Why the name KnucklePrints?
"What are knuckleprints?" you might ask. Well, apes (gorillas, chimpanzees, bonobos, and orangutans) are all knuckle walkers. Meaning that while traveling on all fours, instead of having flat hands they are up on their knuckles. Therefore, as they move along the ground, they leave behind knuckleprints just as we leave behind footprints. Working with the great apes (and many other types of animals) has changed my life in many ways. Each individual animal has left some kind of imprint on me, or knuckleprint if you will. My paintings help me to remember those special animals and hopefully they will make an impression on you too.
